Kiyomizu Temple

Established in 778, Kiyomizu-dera will no doubt leave you in awe. Built atop a precipice, the main hall, which is a National Treasure, is famous as the "Kiyomizu Stage" - affording a magnificent view of the city below. The winding street up to the temple is filled with a huge variety of shops many of which stock the famous Kiyomizu pottery.

Nijyo Castle

Nijo-jo was constructed in 1603 and was the residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu the famous Shogun of Japan. Famous for its structure made during the samurai era, it contains the magnificent wall paintings and sliding doors.

Kinkakuji

Kinkakuji (The Golden Pavilion), as the name suggests, is covered with gold. The contrast between the golden pavilion and the beautiful Japanese garden around it is a must-see. It is often compared to Ginkakuji (The Silver Pavilion), which is also located in Kyoto.

Uzumasa Movie Village (Kyoto Studio Park)

Here, you have the opportunity to experience the Samurai world for yourself. You can try on the traditional kimono costumes and take a picture: something you will certainly want to show to your friends and family! Enjoy the impressive sets for historical dramas. You can also catch Ninja shows. If you are very lucky, you may be able to see the epic Japanese period dramas being shot on the sets!

Osaka

Osaka was once the nation’s capital and has been an important trading centre for centuries. It is an energetic town in a different way from Tokyo. They are famous for their yummy treats, such as Takoyaki (fried octopus ball) and Okonomiyaki (Japanese style pancake).

Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle is the proud symbol of Osaka that is 400 years old. The main tower is now a History Museum.

Tsutenkaku

Another symbol of Osaka, Tsutenkaku is also known as the Eiffel Tower of Osaka. When it was originally built in 1912, it was the tallest structure in the East with the height of 64 metres. The current Tsutenkaku was rebuilt in 1956.
