Ginza / Shinjuku / Roppongi / Shibuya / Harajuku

These are the most popular fashion shopping districts. If you are after high quality, modern fashion, go to Ginza, Shinjuku, Ropppongi. Shibuya and Harajuku. These are the places to visit if you want to see what the youngsters of Tokyo are up to. The crossroads in front of Shibuya station is the busiest you will ever see.

Akihabara

Shopping for Japanese electronic gadgets? Akihabara is the place to be. Check out the latest, coolest products. You will also catch a glimpse of the Manga(comic) culture for which Japan is renowned.

Asakusa

Visit Senso-ji, which is the oldest temple in Tokyo. Here you can catch a glimpse of the old Edo era. There are many small shops along the street leading up to the main temple and you can purchase traditional Japanese goods and sample many of the traditional foods including freshly baked rice cookies. You can also catch a cruise down Sumida River to Tokyo Harbour. You can stop over at Hamarikyu Gardens, which used to be a villa of the Shogun Tokugawa family in the 17th century.

Nikko

Although Nikko is in Tochigi-ken, which is about two hours away by train from Tokyo, it is worth the trip. Nikko is famous for its Toshogu Shrine that houses the statue of the “Three wise monkeys” referred to as “See no Evil, Speak no Evil, Hear no Evil”). Toshogu is listed as a national treasure.

Yokohama

Yokohama is the port that opened the door to the world and is the 2nd biggest city in Japan. The city prides itself in being modern and multicultural. Visit the biggest Chinatown in Japan. See the view from the 69th floor of Landmark tower, which is the tallest building in Japan and has the fastest elevator that runs at 750m per minute.
