The prices and conditions of all products and services displayed on this website are subject to change and not guaranteed. All third parties have booking conditions and may attract other fees and charges in relation to their products and services for which JTB takes no responsibility.

Cancellation And Refund Policy

Cancellations, changes and amendments and refunds cannot be made online once your booking is completed. If you wish to make changes of this nature then please contact us directly on japan.nz@jtbap.com
Cancellation policies vary depending on the product purchased so we ask that you please read these details carefully.

  • Hotels
    If notice of cancellation is received by JTB
    9 business days or more prior to check in date no charge
    8 days to 3 days prior to check in date 10% of one nights room charge
    2 days to 1 day prior to check in date 40% of one nights room charge
    On the day of check in 100% of one nights room charge
  • Sunrise Tours
    You are entitled to cancel a tour at any time but must pay a cancellation fee as below:

    If notice of cancellations is received 21 or more days prior to the starting date of the tour no charge
    If notice of cancellation is received 20 days to 8 days prior to the starting date of the tour 20% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received 7 days to 2 days prior to the starting date of the tour 30% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received 1 day prior to the starting date of the tour 40% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received prior to the starting time of the tour 50% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received after the tour has commenced or in the case of failure to show without notice 100% of the tour price
    Tours NOT including accommodation
    Time Of Cancellation Cancellation Rate
    If notice of cancellations is received 8 or more days prior to the stating date of the tour no charge
    If notice of cancellation is received 7 days to 2 days prior to the starting date of the tour 30% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received 1 day prior to the starting date of the tour 40% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received prior to the starting time of the tour 50% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received after the tour has commenced or in the case of failure to show without notice 100% of the tour price
    Transfer plan, hotel plan (extension plan)
    Time Of Cancellation Cancellation Rate
    If notice of cancellations is received 8 or more days prior to the check in date no charge
    If notice of cancellation is received 7 days to 2 days prior to the starting date of the tour 10% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received 1 day prior to the check in date 40% of the tour price
    If notice of cancellation is received on the date of service or in the case of failure to show without notice 100% of the tour price

    If you change or amend your tour date or details (such as departure date, transport, accommodation, tour participants, tour etc) for any Sunrise tour product this shall be considered a cancellation of the entire tour and the specified cancellation charges shall be levied.
    Tours may be cancelled by the tour operator in cases where natural calamity or disaster, weather conditions, civil unrest, suspension of services related to transportation, accommodation and other facilities, government orders, or other causes make smooth, safe tour operations impossible or where there is valid reason to believe the tour cannot continue.
    Requests for refunds must be made to the JTB New Zealand Office which has handled the original booking. All tour coupons must be produced at the time the request for refund is made. If tour coupons cannot be produced a request for refund may be refused. Requests for refunds will be processed within 30 days of receiving the request.

    Cancellation and refund policies may change from time to time without prior notice. Any such changes will be posted on this website and will take effect immediately.

  • JR Pass

    You are entitled to refunds for cancellation as follows:

    Japan Rail Pass

    If your do not use your exchange order (ie present the Exchange Order and receive your actual Rail Pass) you can obtain a refund (less cancellation fee of 10%) by returning your unused Exchange Order to the JTB New Zealand Office where the original purchase was made. For a refund to be valid the application for refund must be made within 12 months of the original date of purchase.

    JR East Pass

    Refund of an Exchange Order or a JR East Passs. An Exchange Order that has not been turned in for a PASS can be refunded only at the same office that issued the Order within one year of the date of issue. (A cancellation fee of 10% will be charged)

    The actual JR East Pass (ie the pass received after changing the Exchange Order) can only be refunded (in yen) - only before the first date for its use (for a Flexible 4-day Pass, before its first usage) - at an applicable JR East station having a JR East Pass exchange office. (10% of the yen price of the Pass will be charged as a handling fee.) No refund can be made for any reason on or after the first day of use.

    Neither an Order nor a Pass can be reissued if lost or stolen: Please ensure its safekeeping.

    No refunds nor extensions of the validity period can be made on a Pass in the event of train non-operation, delay, or the like.

    JR West Pass

    JR Kyushu Pass

    If your do not use your exchange order (ie present the Exchange Order and receive your actual Rail Pass) you can obtain a refund (less cancellation fee of 10%) by returning your unused Exchange Order to the JTB New Zealand Office where the original purchase was made. For a refund to be valid the application for refund must be made within 12 months of the original date of purchase

    JR Hokkaido Pass

    An Exchange Order that has not been submitted for a Hokkaido Rail Pass can be returned to the office where it was purchased for a refund, within one year of the date of issue. In such cases, a handling fee and communication fee will be subtracted from the refund.

    After an Exchange Order is submitted for a Hokkaido Rail Pass, the Pass can be submitted at any Hokkaido Rail Pass exchange office for a refund if it is done before the starting date of the Pass. (Ten percent of the yen price of the Pass will be charged as a handling fee.)

    No refund can be made for any reason on or after the starting date of the Pass.

    No refund on a Hokkaido Rail Pass can be made in the event of train service delays or suspension, etc.

    Neither an Exchange Order nor a Hokkaido Rail Pass can be reissued if lost or stolen.

Disputes

Any claims arising out of our provision of services to you under these booking conditions will be governed by the law of New Zealand and any legal action arising under the contract will be decided under the appropriate court having jurisdiction in New Zealand

Users Responsibilities

You accept the following responsibilities for use of this website. You the user must not at any time use another person's information, identification or documents without their prior permission and you agree to use this website for lawful purposes only. All unlawful use of this website including but not limited to any criminal offence, tampering with, changing or deleting information on this website, viewing obscene, indecent or pornographic material, advising misleading information or use of this website for unlawful personal or financial gain is punishable by law.

Indemnify

You the user, your employees or agents indemnify JTB New Zealand and its employees or agents against all outcomes including but not limited to loss, damages, claims, expenses and costs resulting from you breaching these Terms of Use.

Amendments To Terms Of Use

The Terms of Use of this website can and will be updated by us at any time without prior notice to you. Should any changes to these Terms of Use be necessary, they will be posted here and will take effect immediately.

Products Sold By JTB New Zealand

JTB New Zealand only uses products sourced from reputable airlines and tourism suppliers. These products are subject to the terms and conditions of these suppliers also and may change without notice. Please note it is a requirement that airline tickets and passports must have identical names and you may be denied travel if there are any differences.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is strongly recommended for any travel. We are able to issue you with a comprehensive and reputable travel insurance policy to suit your needs. Please talk to your travel consultant. All insurance claims should be directed to the insurance company.

Passports & Visas

Passports need be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in the country of your destination. It is the travelers sole responsibility that passports, visas or re-entry permits meet immigration and foreign government authority requirements. Any penalties that might be imposed because your visa and/or passport are not in order are the sole responsibility of the traveller. If you need information regarding visas or other travel documentation, JTB New Zealand have access to an external visa advice source and we can obtain this information on your behalf, however JTB do not guarantee any such information, nor accept any liability which may occur as a result.

Liability & Travel Advice

While JTB New Zealand will always do it's best to provide the best service and most up to date information neither the company nor its employees will accept liability for any loss or damage caused by any act, omission or default, whether negligence or otherwise of carriers, suppliers or any other third party or that caused by (but not limited to) act of God, war, hijacking, terrorism or any other event which is beyond our control. Payment

JTB New Zealand will only accept cash, credit card, direct deposit, travellers cheques and company cheques. Personal cheques are not accepted. Credit & Debit card charges apply. If you make payment direct to other suppliers using a credit/debit card and not to JTB New Zealand, then any subsequent disputes in relation to any act, loss or damage must be against that supplier, not against JTB New Zealand. Direct deposits from overseas will incur an additional bank fee of NZ$10

Prices - Taxes - Other Airline Or Government Charges

Prices, including taxes and airline or government charges are correct as at the time of quoting, but are subject to availability and can change or be withdrawn without notice.

Privacy Policy

Your personal details will only be used for booking purposes and the JTB New Zealand database. Your personal details will not be passed on to any third party without your prior written authority, except where JTB New Zealand is required by law to do so.
