Transfer of Hiroshima

Hiroshima can be accessed, of course by plane, but also by train, bus and ship. The Shinkansen (Bullet Train) Nozomi, which stops here, is extremely convenient.

There is an information desk at the Shinkansen-side exit of Hiroshima Station. If you arrive before about 11:30, the staff at the information desk will send your luggage on to your hotel anywhere in Hiroshima city for 550 yen a piece. So, drop off your luggage, pick up some leaflets in your own language about places and events in Hiroshima, and take a “hands free” walk!

Just outside the south exit of Hiroshima Station, you can find a streetcar station. Streetcars, a symbol of the city, have been running since 1912. There are various streetcars, from the classic ones to the most modern designs. Basically, there is a flat-rate fare of 150 yen within the city. Press the button or tell the conductor when you want to get off, and pay your fare as you alight. To go to the Peace Memorial Park, take either the No.2 or No.6 streetcar. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the “Genbaku Domu-mae (The A-bomb Dome)” stop. The A-bomb Dome and the Peace Park soon came into sight.

Miyajima, known as one of Japan's three most famous sights, is a beautiful island located some 20 km south-west of Hiroshima City. To get to the sacred island, "Miyajima", it is a 30-minute trip by local train from Hiroshima Station, and 10 minutes by ferry from the pier close to Miyajima-guchi Station.
